The Artist
Born in New York in 1933 and linked to Italy by his many visits, leading up to his decision to move to Reggio Emilia in the early 1990s, Philip Corner may be classified in that grey area that lies between the visual arts, music and something else. His career began in a strict and traditional manner with his studies in piano and composition, first in the United States and then in France, under the guidance of Olivier Messiaen. However, his time in Korea with the US army, between 1959 and 1961, would change his path for good. [...]
