For the 2020 edition, the Education Departments of the ZonArte network once again ran the Domeniche in Festa project as part of the OGR Public Program, albeit in a limited form, adapted to comply with the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 emergency. Starting as a collaboration with the CentroScienza Association, the Sundays in the second part of the year were then dedicated to an exploration of Trevor Paglen’s exhibition, together with a public made up of children and parents.

For the 2019 edition, in addition to their collaboration on the Domeniche in Festa project, the Education Departments of the ZonArte network presented an annual programme, divided into two four-day cycles, to inaugurate the founding of a national network with institutional partners in the capital: MACRO – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea in Rome, GNAM – Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, the Rome Quadriennale, Istituzione per l’arte contemporanea italiana and the Istituzione Sistema Biblioteche Centri Culturali in Rome. The concluding cycle, hosted by PAV – Parco d’Arte Vivente, proposed workshops designed for schools, groups, associations and families, with the aim of drawing on past participants to celebrate 10 years of the project.

In 2018, the ZonArte project changed form in order to collaborate on the new Domeniche in Festa project. The initiative, promoted by the Foundation in collaboration with OGR, is part of the OGR Public Program. The activities are aimed at a wide audience, families in particular, but also young people, adults and associations, offering a diverse kaleidoscope of free experiences and activities. One Sunday a month, divided into two time slots, the participants in the Domeniche in Festa activities work together with the arte-nauts on the theme of the value and meaning of family time, free time and celebration. These free activities are conceived as a gift for the community, as a moment of sharing and, at the same time, of training and learning.

For the 2017 edition, the Education Departments of the ZonArte network presented the Manuale at Artissima: the publication resulting from the participatory project begun the previous year at Artissima (Education_ART/Contest). The project, which continued with a series of meetings, focus groups and workshops over the course of the year, gave rise to a genuine teaching glossary. Furthermore, the network contributed to the staging of Patrick Tuttofuoco’s Tutto Infinito exhibition project for the Big Bang delle OGR, with a programme of activities for the public that brought around 25,000 visitors to explore the incredible temporary installation and the entire OGR space.

For the 2016 edition, the Education Departments of the ZonArte network presented the Education_ART/Contest at Artissima: a creative debate open to the public with the aim of constructing a glossary as far as possible characterised by the scientific nature of art-historical research and the most advanced art education practices, useful for educating various groups with regard to the contents, forms and horizons of contemporary art. The final outcome of this programme was a selection of keywords recurring in art criticism, which resulted the following year in a Manuale: a genuine teaching tool, useful for those working in this professional field.

For the 2015 edition, the Education Departments of the ZonArte network presented at Artissima the work of a group of young people who, at the end of a training course carried out in collaboration with the artist Cesare Pietroiusti, provided fairgoers with a series of actions reflecting on the nature of the work of art, on the modes, space and time of its exhibition, on the systems of relationships that it activates and on the possibility of generating real experiences of knowledge and participation based on it.

ZonArte also continues to reflect on the relationship between the public and contemporary art with a series of meetings, talks and round tables to present and discuss the results of the conference on the socio-cultural and educational role of museums, a key part of the ZonArte 2015 project.

The 2014 edition of the ZonArte project followed in the footsteps of the previous edition, winding its way through four main events: the Turin International Book Fair (in May), the Summer School at Castello di Rivoli (June–September 2014), a calendar of activities shared with art venues, and finally Artissima 21 (7–9 November 2014).

In 2014, ZonArte was more than ever the protagonist of the Musei in Mostra space within the Artissima International Fair, with a rich programme of meetings, workshops, and events dedicated to the theme of performance, for all audiences and all age groups.

The 2013 edition of ZonArte started out from the Turin International Book Fair, reflecting on a collective exploration of the relationship between the individual/collectivity and the landscape, the value of experience and of inclusion with regard to artworks.

The year’s programme, coordinated in 2013 by the PAV – Parco Arte Vivente, is divided into four main events, starting with the Turin International Book Fair (in May), continuing with the Summer School at Castello di Rivoli (June–September 2013), a calendar of activities shared with art venues, and finally ending up at Artissima 20 (8–10 November 2013).

In the wake of the growing success of previous editions, the ZonArte board coordinated the space Musei in Mostra dedicated to institutions at Artissima, with a view to increasing its synergy with the fair event, providing activities, workshops and talks for all audiences and all age groups.

In 2012, the ZonArte project, which came about from the desire to encourage people to meet the art of our time, reached its third edition.

In 2011, the packed calendar of events had attracted over 7,500 visitors during the three appointments in the programme, the last of which took place during the Artissima Fair. On this occasion, through debates, conferences and workshops, the visitor was placed at the centre of the art experience as a protagonist, in keeping with the relational and not only economic values of the artworks.

For the 2012 edition, the Education Department of Castello di Rivoli was chosen as the project leader to work on a programme that will once again take shape at Artissima as part of the increasingly close synergy between the Fair and Turin’s contemporary art museum system.

In 2011, the second edition of the ZonArte project featured a major first appointment at the GAM for three days in May, during which the six Education Departments involved the public (around 2,000 people) in numerous activities such as photography workshops, workshops for schools, activities for groups of people with disabilities, ongoing self-education workshops for adults, themed itineraries, theatre and performance activities for young people, etc.

The 2011 edition ended with the participation in the Artissima Fair. In this way, the Education Departments for the first time found their own space within a market-fair through a common exhibition event, placing contemporary art at the heart of activities shared with various audiences in order to educate, inform and create relationships between different people. A strategic, interdisciplinary, trans-generational and wholly inclusive project.

At the same venue, a publication was presented to illustrate the results of the work of the ZonArte network.

The first edition of the ZonArte project took place in April, with seven days of activities and guests at the Fondazione Merz, in which more than 6,000 people were involved to experience the art space as a place of encounter and comparison, in a new cultural perspective favouring interaction between artists, works, installations and the public. Over 4,000 students took part in the first edition of ZonArte: 160 classes from Bologna, Milan, Genoa, Urbino, Pesaro, Bergamo, Perugia, Biella and, of course, Turin. A heterogeneous range of children took part, from nursery school groups to university and academy students.

The activities, conferences, dinners, evening shows and weekend workshops were attended by around 2,000 people.
