The 57th Annual Conference of CIMAM (the International Committee for Museums and Collections of Modern Art) took place from 28 to 30 November 2025 at OGR Torino, Teatro Carignano and Centrale Nuvola Lavazza. Organised by CIMAM, the event was supported by Fondazione Arte CRT and Fondazione CRT, and curated by the Content Committee in collaboration with Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Fondazione Torino Musei, and Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea. Several museums and institutions in the city also participated. This collaboration between Turin’s leading cultural institutions highlights the city’s dedication to promoting contemporary art and cultural dialogue.
Entitled “Enduring Game: Expanding New Models of Museum Construction”, with the guiding motto “Of Necessity Virtue”, marked CIMAM’s return to Italy for the first time in almost fifty years, following its last Italian event in Bologna and Prato in 1976. The event involved over 300 delegates from around 90 countries and brought together museum professionals specialising in modern and contemporary art. In a spirit of critical enquiry and collective imagination, they explored the evolving role of contemporary art institutions in an increasingly complex global context. Through the Travel Grant Programme, now in its 20^(th) edition, the event also ensured the participation of diverse voices and perspectives from emerging economies, thereby enriching the debate and promoting greater equity within the sector.
